2021: One SMC race
2022: Two SMC races
2023: Three SMC races
2024: Three SMC races and gone International
2025: Retain the International flair and expand to FIVE races.
2026: Add and SMC race at the SOVREN Spring Sprints, and welcome 10+ new drivers to the group, plus Battle of the Brits II!

We’re staying more local in 2026, as we focus on welcoming 10+ new drivers to the Sprite-Midget Challenge. But we’re adding at race at the SOVREN Spring Sprints in May to stay at five weekends of Spridget-racing action!

Race 1, May 2-3
SOVREN Spring Sprints
Pacific Raceways, Kent, Washington
This is a new event for the SMC. The weather can do pretty much anything at SOVREN’s first event of the year- in 2024 it was a frigid downpour on Sunday with a bit of hail thrown in for fun. In 2025 it was picture-perfect low 70s and sunny. What will it toss at us this year? Be there to find out. Rain or shine, the Sprite-Midget Challenge race at the end of Saturday will be action-packed!
Cost: $575

Track web site: Pacific Raceways
Pacific Raceways is the home track of SOVREN, the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts, our primary race host. This SMC race takes place amid three full days of vintage racing at the track, and it is the best attended Northwest vintage race of the season (drivers and spectators). Local car clubs park in the ‘car corral’ adjacent to the front straight and usually get a few parade laps during the lunch break. What’s better than watching a race? Watching and then getting to drive the track in your street car!

Note: Just like 2025, this SMC race will be a part of the Battle of the Brits race, which is open to Minis. We’re expecting 20+ Sprites and Midgets this year, for our biggest grid ever!

Race 4, August 8-9
British Columbia Historics, Mission Raceway Park, Mission, British Columbia
Mission is a tight, technical track that tests brakes as much or more than acceleration. Hosted by the Vintage Racing Club of British Columbia and the Sports Car Club of British Columbia, the weekend is filled with fun on and off the track, and is not to be missed by drivers or fans.
Cost: $425 CAD

Race 5, September 5-6
SOVREN Columbia River Classic, Portland International Raceway, Portland, Oregon
SOVREN’s Columbia River Classic is the birth place of the Sprite-Midget Challenge. It’s a great facility and the race coincides with the annual Portland All British Field Meet, one of the largest British cars shows in North America. While we race, the show cars will be parked on a field right behind the paddock. Car show participants can enter their cars in a slalom race at lunch time on both Saturday and Sunday.
In addition to the usual fun, we will show off our Le Mans style start at Portland this year, and…The International Bugatti Grand Prix will take place…20+ pre-war Bugatti street cars on display and another 15+ racing with SOVREN!
